He proposed with this!
Watch if you wish to know why I said "YES"
It happened so quickly, I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t! I felt like I was living in a dream. The proposal was so quick paced and emotionally exciting that I can’t even remember what happened! However, I’ll tell you all the details I do remember…
It all happened on Thursday (October 31, 2019). Jonah and I were leaving the mall (I needed to get my glasses fixed and I wanted to look at rings). We were driving down the street that we usually take to get to his house, but then I noticed he had his left turn signal on. He noticed my curiosity and told me that we were going to get snow tires for his car, which I knew he was already shopping for beforehand. I’m not the type of person to ask questions, but I recognized a slight smile from his lips. I was suspicious, but I didn’t bother.
Next thing I knew, we were driving toward the lake - the place where we technically met. “The owner lives down by the lake?” I asked. Jonah told me that he lived close by… but there weren’t any houses nearby. Eventually, we arrived at an empty parking lot. We parked near a black car. “Do you want help?”
“Yeah, actually, that’d be great,” Jonah replied.
“Oh, I was kind of hoping you’d say no.” It was pouring rain when I got out. At the same time I got out, a man got out of the black car. He was smoking a cigarette.
‘You’re getting your tires from this strange guy?’ I thought. Then, the man walked away from us. Now, I was extremely confused. It was pouring rain, very cold, and I had to pee! Jonah grabbed my hand and we started walking down a path. Thankfully, he was holding an umbrella.
“We’re not actually here for snow tires,” Jonah said. “We’re being spontaneous!” Way to play it safe, babe.
“You said you wanted to be more spontaneous in our relationship,” Jonah smiled. “Well, here we are!” This was not what I meant by spontaneous. Despite my suspicion, I played along. I had a good idea of what was going to happen at this point, but I tried to deny it.
“Shoot!”
“What?” I asked. Jonah forgot his phone. He quickly ran to his car as I stood alone under an umbrella in the cold rain.
‘He forgot the ring,’ I thought. Soon enough, he was back. He grabbed my hand and we quickly walked off the path to a gazebo.
“Aww, a gazebo?” I cheered.
“Yeah,” Jonah replied. “It’s spontaneous.” He then told me to sit on the wet bench as a joke. He was so nervous! He put down the umbrella on the bench and said, “I want to show you something.”
He pulled out his phone and played a video. I denied that he was proposing until the video displayed, “I wanna MARRY YOUUUU!!” Tears ran down my face. Shortly after the video, he put the phone in his pocket, got down on one knee and revealed the ring!
I still can’t remember if he said, “Kay, will you marry me?” or “Will you marry me?” Everything was a blur after that point. It doesn’t matter, because either way, I was engaged to my best friend and the love of my life.
